Welcome
Well to start off I would like to welcome you to your new home. With this site we will be able to stay in closer communication with one another. We can ask questions, we can help support our fellow bar owners, and we can stay united. I feel you made an important decision coming to IBOC's website and signing up. Remember this is your site, so if you have any thing you would like to see from this site feel free to add your suggestions.
Brian Froehlich
This has been a busy week - and it is only Tuesday! Let me clear the air of the rumors that have been floating around. We have not hired former Gov. Vilsack to represent us. His stand has always been to fight the exemptions and we believe those will be overturned next legislative session without cost to our organizations. We also believe that his involvement is purely political and not for the best interest of small business owners of this state. The decision not to hire his services was made several weeks ago and is frankly a surprise that it is surfacing now. Be cautious! There are some organizations around the state that are attempting to acquire funds to fight the exemption. If this is something that you wish to put your money into, that is your choice. We are fighting the entire ban and the constitutionability of it on its merit. Let me outline a few key points that should be brought forward.
1. We are fighting the ban itself not the exemptions.
2. Vilsack does not represent us. His motives are political and the suggestion to utilize his services are self serving.
3. George Eichhorn is our attorney and will represent us in this matter. DO NOT CONTACT HIS OFFICE! He will be very busy serving our best interests, please reserve your questions for Brian Frolich or myself.
4. We have been in contact with a public relations firm to assist in this matter. Their obligations will be to handle the onslaught of media and more importantly help raise funds for the legal battle. This will cost money to do so but we believe it is a good move.
5. We have distanced ourselves from Iowans for Equal Rights. We believe their motives are self serving and do not coincide with our objectives. Randy Stanford and his organization are moving a different direction than us, but we wish them all the luck in pursuing what they feel is their best chance in fighting this battle.
6. With the surgance of questions, we are referring everyone to the IBOC website. This will help relieve time from officers as well as keep everyone in the loop daily. The officers of your organizations are working hard to fight for what we all believe in. Before you bog them down with phone calls, check the website for the information that you may need.
7. The following assignment of duties will be in affect until a meeting of the board can be scheduled. Brian Frolich - direct contact with Attorney & organizing fundraising events. Jon Van Roekel - press and media contacts & fund handling. All of these legal proceedings take money. If you or someone you know has been waiting to donate until the fight has started - the fight has started and all available resources are needed. Donations can be sent to C.O.B.R.A. 76 Main Ave. Clinton Iowa 52732.We will keep you updated as things change. Keep up the fight and remember - "A doughnut without a hole is a danish" - Copernicus Jonathan H. Van Roekel President C.O.B.R.A.
